Students killed in car crash
Dear Friends,
It is with
sorrow, we want to convey the news that an unfortunate accident on 10/25/2022
in MA near Albany, NY claimed three lives of Telugu students, and four of them
were hospitalized with injuries. Two of the deceased are from the University of
New Haven and the other is from Sacred Heart University.
Four others from
the Connecticut school were injured when the minivan they were traveling in
collided with a pickup truck, school officials and a report said.
Sai Narasimha Patamsetti and Pavani Gullapally, both 22 and from India,
were identified by the university as the fatal victims.
“Please join me in extending our heartfelt
condolences to the parents, family, friends, and classmates of Pavani and Sai,
and in keeping all of the students involved in your thoughts,” Dean of Students
Ophelie Rowe-Allen said in her Tuesday message, that was shared with The Post
by a school spokesperson.
A third person, who hasn’t been identified
and is from another college, also perished when a Toyota Sienna traveling
northbound and a Chevrolet Silverado driving southbound collided, the Berkshire
County District Attorney’s Office said
The third person Prem Kumar Goda is from sacred heart university located in Connecticut.
The Toyota
Sienna was carrying all three people who died and another four New Haven grad
students who were injured, according to the school and the television station.
The driver of the Silverado was also
reportedly injured.
Narasimha
Patamsetti was a business analytics graduate
student and Gullapally was a civil engineering graduate student, the
university said.
New Haven said it planned to hold an
on-campus memorial for the two lost students.
“Please keep your fellow classmates in your
thoughts and prayers this evening. It is at times like this that members of our
community can offer strength and comfort to each other,” said Rowe-Allen
